Shiva Mahimna Stotra

॥ ॐ नमः शिवाय ॥      The Shiva Mahimna Stotra is very popular among the devotees of Lord Shiva and is considered one of the best among all Stotras (or Stutis) offered to Lord Shiva . Knowledge of Chandas is very important to correctly chant the sutras.The Chandas or Sanskrit Meter used in this Stotra is called : ShikhariNI Defining    .   ,   -   and i  as: - denotes long syllable (‘ guru ’ in Sanskrit) . denotes short syllable (‘ laghu ’ in Sanskrit) i denotes place where one inhales The ShikhariNi can be written as : . - - / - - - / i . . . / . . - / -  . . / . -  i After 6th Syllable and after 17th Syllable one pauses for inhalation Following is a table with the first sutra of Mahimna Stotra,  with four padas and each pada has 17 Akshras/Syllables. Spandakārikā There are many versions of Spandakaarikaa's with same meaning but little differences here and there and on top of that there were many versions of Spandakaarikaa's which is very irritating and confusing and perplexing.
